Burn, Rewrite, & Reread Books!

Hey, everybody! I’ve decided that every week or so I am going to post 1-3 sets of books I would burn, rewrite, & reread! Each week I am going to have a theme. If there is a theme you would like, comment it/ the books you want me to read. If possible, I will go to the library and check it out. If the library doesn’t have it, then I’m sorry but I won’t be able to do it. This week’s theme is James Dashner! I will be using his series The Mortality Doctrine & The Maze Runner. You can find them at B&N here. This is as close as I’m going to get to writing a full-blown book review, so if you were hoping for those, look here. All right, let’s get started!

The Books!

  1. The Eye Of Minds (The Mortality Doctrine Series #1)
  2. The Rule Of Thoughts (The Mortality Doctrine Series #2)
  3. The Game Of Lives (The Mortality Doctrine Series #3)
  4. The Maze Runner (The Maze Runner Series #1)
  5. The Scorch Trials (The Maze Runner Series #2)
  6. The Death Cure (The Maze Runner Series #3)

Group 1!

  1. The Maze Runner (The Maze Runner Series #1)
  2. The Eye Of Minds (The Mortality Doctrine Series #1)
  3. The Rule Of Thoughts (The Mortality Doctrine Series #2)

Burn:

The Rule of Thoughts. It reminded me a lot of the 1st book. Coding challenges, putting up Hider Shields, the code failing, etc. The thing is, the first book had a twist at the end I really liked, while the 2nd book’s twist wasn’t my favorite. Also, right before the end, there was a loose end that didn’t quite tie up.

Rewrite:

The Maze Runner. Although I went on to read the 2nd and 3rd books, I wasn’t as pulled into Tommy’s world as I could’ve been. It’s still a great 1st book to a series, but I think Mr. Dashner should have done some more world building.

Reread:

The Eye of Minds! It was a great pull into Micheal’s world. I felt as if I was there, battling Kaine and the KillSims. It made me want to read more about his struggles. The Path was realistic, and I loved how we got to meet the world renowned Gunnar Skale! He was so mysterious with the demos comment  Also, the end hook! I just had to read the 2nd book to find out what happened to Micheal & Jackson.

Group 2!

  1. The Scorch Trials (The Maze Runner Series #2)
  2. The Death Cure (The Maze Runner Series #3)
  3. The Game Of Lives (The Mortality Doctrine Series #3)

Burn:

The Scorch Trials because I felt it was not a satisfying ending, Thomas’s actions were driving me a little crazy. I thought he should’ve forgiven Teresa faster because almost everything in that series was about him avoiding death. And he felt betrayed by her when I am almost positive Thomas would’ve done the same thing if he was in Teresa’s situation.

Rewrite:

The Death Cure because I didn’t want some characters to die. Also, the death scene was not satisfying to me. I felt like Tommy would have reacted differently, based on how his character is built.

Rate: 8.5/10

Reread:

The Game of Lives! Even though there was a cliffhanger ending, I still felt it was a great conclusion to the series. The end fighting scene was action packed, though the farmhouse was disappointing. I was totally immersed in Micheal’s world. It wasn’t a “predictable” book like some are.

Update:

I am so so sorry, but you’re going to have to wait again for your writing update. Instead of making promises I can’t keep, I decided to wait until I know I have a good writing post. But I will give you a status update, as I have yet to update my progress bars.

Lost Worlds #1- 1022/10000

10k words isn’t my end goal, just a reasonable short term goal. I already have ideas for the next book or 2 in the series, though!

For(gotten) You- 1292/2500

Did you guys like when I posted some poems? Comment “yes” if you did.

I have done an astonishing, amazing, splendid, wait for it… wait for it… 0% of looking through all my old notebooks and ideas! When I do wish me luck!

And also, if you didn’t remember from the beginning of this post, if there is a theme you would like, comment it/ the books you want me to read. Thanks for reading!

best wishes,

liv
