Hello, everyone!
This is just a quick little thing I was thinking about.
I was reading a blog post, and it said it contained book spoilers. So I went to work on my WorldBuilding board instead. (More about that in another post.)
I started writing down some stuff that would need to be built upon at the end of the story. Then I started thinking about that blog post again. I really wanted to read the character study, but it spoiled the ending. Then I started thinking about any spoilers that might’ve been in MY blog post. (Thankfully, there were none 😀 ) But…
If you want to be a good writer, you need to be invested in your story idea. You need to feel something. You have to hang on to your every word, feel as if you are standing right next to your character. If you don’t want to read to the end of the book, chances are, no one else will either. But, the downside of being so invested in your book…
You already know the ending to your book.
I know, I know. This is what I signed up for. But have you ever been reading in your book, you’re really into it, wanting to figure out what happens next…
But you already know.
This is always a big letdown to me. I know it might sound silly, but if your writing is good, I wouldn’t want it spoiled. Even though I am the writer, and I brought them to life, I just don’t like knowing what’s going to happen in advance.
Has this ever happened to you? Comment!

So true! I talk about my own writing experiences in my blog https://katiemdeanblog.wordpress.com/.
You have a good point about spoiling the ending. When I’m proof reading my manuscripts, I always find myself so engaged in the story, but I already know how it’s going to end. I guess that’s what we as authors signed up for…

Cool! I’ll be sure to check it out.
Yeah, I guess…

These are so funny! I agree especially with the pie chart…I always end up doing ANYTHING but writing…the cruel fact of life (which is why when my mum asks why I’m blogging instead of working on my book, I turn suddenly speechless)

Wow… so so so so so true!!!! :O 😀 Actually….. I probably don’t always know the ending for my books…cause I’m one that doesn’t often plan out the ending! :O :O :O XD Haha!!! 🙂 I loved the quotes! 😉 I can relate… 😛

Yep. I keep wanting to write a book about her juvenile years or something like that … but I feel like that’d just be the denial stage of grief. 😉

Well, maybe I’ll try that … sometime. *is vague because I don’t know what I’d do it about and I’m bad at short stories*

Well … that’s just one.
And then there’s TLOTV, of course, but that’s a novella, so it doesn’t count. 😉

novellas are stories too!
Fine, I could see how if you were being finicky that wouldnt count.
*Looks pointedly at your outline for 6 book series*

*points to the fact that only one of those is finished* 😉
I just found out that technically The Lady of the Vineyard is in the “novelette” category. Go figure. I guess 14,000 wasn’t good enough for those uppity novellas … oh well. I continue to call it a novella anyway.

I would read 3.5k more words of Judy 😉

Well, if you come across a place where something could be added in TLOTV, let me know. I can’t think of anything … but I’ve read it so often that I’m blinded to it. 😉

um… i think its a little hard to grab a Ferrari. 😉
I’m prioritizing, too!
PRIORITIES:
1. procrastination
2. thinking about procrastination
3. trying not to fall into hole of procrastination
4. writing this procrastination list
i think i might actually put a character shelf/ graveyard on my site…
i dont know.
im indecisive that way.

That would be cool! I kind of wish I weren’t doing the “official authory” thing on my blog so that I could do some more fun stuff like that. 😀
LikeLiked by 1 person
well.. that would be cool, still! You could have it be like ” a peek inside the life of a writer” or something more catchy. Character Meet & Greet, maybe?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Maybe I could do a post about it! Honestly, though, I have so many post ideas lined up … I should make a list! 😀

i am thinking of that… also, I want to redesign the menus of my blog! I really like my tagline, but it doesnt really explain my blog… so i have to fix that. 😦 nice remodel! Cant wait to read the new books!

Thanks! It’s my “election year” theme. XD #makeamericagreatagain 😉 What I’ve been doing is going through my pages and making sure comments are enabled. XD For some reason they’re not.
Hmm ……. I don’t know what you could do, although I agree the tagline might need a little work … although mine isn’t the greatest, either. 😀 What’s wrong with your menus though?

I like your tagline and the election year aesthetic 😀 that wierd.. i dont think i;ve had that problem. I just need to reorganize/put some new stuff in my menus

yeah, but… im using the wrong name XD
specification: im using my IRL nickname instead of my author name. I came up with my pen name after the blog was created. so now thats another problem…
and the header is just me being picky 🙂
LikeLiked by 1 person
Oh, yeah, I noticed that your pen name didn’t have Liv in it! I’m glad I saw that because I was gonna say something about you in the acknowledgements section of TLOTV and so … yeah. Would have been awkward if I used the wrong name. 😉 Jk.

yeah aww, thanks! i might have to go around and change my writing accounts… but not today. today is the day i throw all my planning out the window and just WRITE! i dont care if i have to throw it all in the trash, thats what first drafts are for!!!!

Good for you! I should do that … 😉 (ha!)

lol i probably wont… i’ll open up my doc, start to write, and then remember why i stopped to plan in the first place… #writerstruggles

well, at least your making progress! what draft are you on? or is it editing? because i’d rather have a mess then a blank page! 😉
LikeLiked by 1 person
1st draft. I wrote it once before, but ditched it, so I’m technically rewriting. XD
LikeLiked by 1 person
oh, cool! how do you balance so many projects at once?
i’m sure it isnt a mess! it seems like a great storyline! you could just… put all the chapters into seperate documents. it could make you feel a little less overwhelmed? I dont know.

I’m a multi-tasker, which is the reason I never get anything done. 😉
Maybe I’ll try that. Although they don’t make sense by themselves, either. XD 😉

well, i read this tip somehwere. you print it out, or use 2 screens, and literally just rewrite what you have. not actually writing, just reiterating what you’ve written
LikeLiked by 1 person
That might be a good idea. But I suppose I should just move forward. I’m only 40% through, so it would probably be better to have a complete draft … probably.

whatever helps you be more productive! would it make you feel better to keep going, or edit what you have now?
