Hello everybody,
Like so many other of you out there around the blogosphere, I play soccer.
The difference between you and me is probably that this is my first time playing on an actual team, but we can look past that, right?
Except if you count the time when I was 6. Which I don’t. There’s actually a story behind that, remind me to tell you it all sometime!
But seriously. You’re gonna have to remind me. 🙂
So, this is what happened:
Vocab:
Quarter= 15 minutes
Keeper= Goalie
Midfielders= The wild card, plays offense and defense
Offense= The attackers, goal-scorers
Striker= Leader of the offense
Defense= Keeps the ball away from out goal
Boot= Kicking the ball over the line down the middle of the field, away from your goal
1st Quarter:
I sat on the bench for this one, I played the last 3 quarters. I just cheered my friends on, cause let’s say, they were KILLING it. My friend S (the best on the team) scored a goal, and we went WILD. The other team barely cheered, so we were all laughing at them
2nd Quarter:
I started off subbing for my friend M, a 9th grader. I was rightback (right defense) Unfortunately, a goal got through. But here’s a little fast-forward peek: It was the only goal they ever scored. I think I did pretty good, even though I was a little ball-shy at first. Here’s a little fact about me: I’m not very confident in my soccer abilities. I am the least experienced player on my team, and this was my FIRST (real) game EVER. So I got a little
But here’s a little fast-forward peek: It was the only goal they ever scored.
I think I did pretty good, even though I was a little ball-shy at first. Here’s a little fact about me: I’m not very confident in my soccer abilities. I am the least experienced player on my team, and this was my FIRST (real) game EVER. So I got a little nervous, and then after the quarter ended, we went under the little black tarp shade thing and discussed what we could do better.
Another goal!
3rd Quarter:
I was switched to right mid. It was fun, because I hadn’t really played that position in practice before. it forced me to become less ball-shy, and I got some valuable experience. It was tiring, though! This one girl from the other team got injured. She was really vexing, though. When my friend S beat her to the ball, she literally walked off the field, had someone sub for her, and threw her cleats on the ground! I THINK I got an assist, but I’m not sure. Oh, and we scored
Oh, and we scored 2 more goals!
4th Quarter:
We were ahead 4-1. We basically were just playing keep-away at that point, because we didn;t need to score anymore. I stayed right Mid, and my friend N got to be striker, which she said was scary but fun! Nothing really much to report this quarter for me, but I got some good passes in! 🙂 I was really happy about that, it really boosted my confidence. Another player from the other team got injured. (none of our players got injured, yay!) I’m pretty sure they had to call an ambulance, because at the end of the game, she still wasn’t moving. I felt really bad driving away in the bus.
Post Game:
We won, 4-1! yay! It was such good luck I won my first game ever. Well, technically, it was a scrimmage, but tomato, tomahto, right? Besides, we have ou! Just kidding! Wouldnt want to get cocky so early in the season. ;)r first game MONDAY *nervous squeal* so I guess we’ll just have to win that one tooYou know when we walk down the line and give high-fives? You could tell the opposing team was bitter about losing
You know when we walk down the line and give high-fives? You could tell the opposing team was bitter about losing, but we were still being polite! Then #2- (the vexing rip-my-hair out person) almost takes our arms off! Like, excuse me? Check your attitude miss!
Signing out on that happy note,
April.
Wow, I just realized how awesome this blog is looking! It’s so cool! I’ve got to figure out how to get Reveries looking this good.

Congrats, April! I’ve never played football (ha ha, I use British English, so it’s football), and probably never will, but you’re awesome! Sprint on, sister!
